The Unit provides independent expertise for Industry collaboration.

Examples of Collaborations:

 Pharmaceutical   - new therapeutics for treatment of diabetic   cardiomyopathy: complete diet balance studies
 Food  - novel butter fat and cardiovascular risk
 Food components - dairy lipids & proteins and cholesterol lowering
 Food ingredients  - barley ß-glucan Glucagel and cholesterol lowering; barley ß-glucan Cerogen and glucose control
 Neutraceuticals  - marine polysaccharide Chitosan and weight loss; Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (fish oils) and stroke

The Human Nutrition Unit is also a member of the LactoPharma consortium, a NZ-wide collaborative program supported by the NZ Foundation for Research Science and Technology (FRST) and the NZ dairy company Fonterra Co-Operative group Ltd.
